Self-guided tour

 Our costumed interpreters will be back in all the buildings on the site from June 2, 2025 to welcome visitors.  

For this type of self-guided tour, available during our opening hours, we appeal to your generosity for voluntary contributions, which are essential to our mission of heritage preservation.

Boxes are placed in all the buildings and visitors can drop off their donations themselves. 

Guided tour

For 60 minutes, one of our interpreter-guides will accompany you through the various buildings of the site, sharing historical information, anecdotes and stories about Point O'Hara and the figures who have marked its history.


Tours in French and English available every day, at fixed times.


Price: $15. Reservation recommended, online or directly at the Berceau shop. Limited places.

Walk along the York River

A walk of about 1 km along the York River and the Bay of Gaspé leads you to the Musée de la Gaspésie, offering a pleasant walk along the waterfront in the heart of the city.

Free parking

Free municipal parking is available nearby: Gaspé (Québec) G4X 1V3. For your safety, always cross at the crosswalk.

Picnic tables and fountain

Idealfor a meal on site or to fill your water bottle, our picnic tables and fountain allow you to eat and hydrate in peace.

Baker Tavern

For a gourmet break or a refreshment, our tavern with terrace welcomes you in a friendly atmosphere.

Souvenir Shop

Take a piece of the Birthplace of Canada with you! Our souvenirshop offers a variety of promotional products, local crafts and gift ideas.

Accessible washrooms and facilities

All of our buildings and the entire outdoor site are accessible to people with reduced mobility, and washrooms are universally accessible. The site is certified by the KEROUL organization.

Group Tours

School groups

A guided tour adapted to young audiences, an outdoor naval battle game, a treasure hunt and an animation on the theme of the printing press of yesteryear are available by reservation.

Tour operators and cruise lines

A guided tour with an interpreter-guide is available upon reservation. If the group has more than 25 people, it is possible to divide the participants into 2 groups with each an interpreter guide.

Space rental

The Cradle of Canada offers unique spaces for your family, association or corporate events. Enjoy the historic setting and charm of our buildings while creating lasting memories.

  • La Taverne : Seats 26 people inside and 25 people on the terrace, ideal for intimate meals, meetings or private celebrations.
  • The Hydrobase Jacques de Lesseps : capacity up to 70 people depending on the room configurationdepending on the room configuration, perfect for meetings, 5 to 7, workshops or cultural and corporate events. 
  • Outdoor space of the site : for outdoor events, the site can accommodate up to 900 people, offering an exceptional natural setting along the river and the Bay of Gaspé.
